"Kuzhandhaiyum Deivamum" was the adaptation of Disney's "The Parent Trap" (1961) which told the story of twin girls bringing together their separated parents. Actor and screenwriter Javar Seetharaman adapted that film in Tamil, making changes in the screenplay to suit the local milieu. AVM Kumaran liked "The Parent Trap" and advised A. C. Tirulokchandar to integrate the theme of this film into "Kaakkum Karangal" which Tirulokchandar was directing at that time for AVM. However Tirulokchandar was not interested as he felt his script was better. AVM then chose Krishnan–Panju to direct the film.
Dharmam Thalai Kaakkum ("Order will Save Life") is a 1963 Tamil language drama film directed by M. A. Thirumugam. The film features M. G. Ramachandran, B. Saroja Devi and M. R. Radha in lead roles, while S. A. Ashokan was villain. The film, produced by Sandow M. M. A. Chinnappa Thevar, had musical score by K. V. Mahadevan and was released on 22 February 1963. The film was blockbuster at box-office and one of highest grossing film of the year and ran more than 100 days.
Ashokan's performance as a helpless traveller who gets conned in "Vallavanukku Vallavan", and as the historical Indian character Duryodhana in the mythology film "Karnan" were well received. He was regularly cast in supporting roles as an elder brother or as the father or father-in-law or as the main villain in 59 films with M. G. Ramachandran in the lead role right from Baghdad Thirudan in 1960 to Ninaithadhai Mudippavan in 1975.
