Some people begin to grow dissatisfied with Keith’s handling of the robberies, while Apollo’s father claimant appears in Neptune. Veronica searches for Apollo, learning from his former roommate that Apollo did not actually write the book, and he was never a child soldier. However, Wallace (Percy Daggs III) urges her not to expose him as a hoax, as his book as actually helping charities that aid child soldiers.

She helps Weevil retrace his steps and notices one of her criminology classmates, Jenny (Dianna Agron), involved with one of Weevil’s clients. Veronica deduces that Jenny and her circle of friends are responsible for creating the fake student IDs, disseminating them, and implicating Weevil. Logan and Dick (Ryan Hansen) go surfing, and they run into Veronica, Piz, and Mac helping Wallace (Percy Daggs III) with his final project for a class. Veronica learns that one of Jenny’s group lives in the same town in Georgia where the student ID machines are made.
Aaron Echolls testifies in court and lies about the day of the murder. Veronica talks to Keith about her testimony. Gia (Krysten Ritter) invites Veronica to her house, and she agrees. Veronica bemoans her academic situation to Jackie (Tessa Thompson) and Wallace (Percy Daggs III). Weevil (Francis Capra) asks Veronica for help on his finals, but she denies him. Lucky (James Jordan) comes into the lunch area and starts shooting a gun. He points the gun at Jackie before “shooting” Wallace, although his gun has no bullets. A police officer appears and actually shoots Lucky in the back. Woody answers the press’s questions on the incident. Keith tells Veronica his plan to hack into Woody’s email account, and Veronica says that she’ll handle it when she’s invited over. Logan visits Aaron in prison. At the Goodmans’ house, Veronica hacks into the email account and reads an email that indicates that Woody molested several children.
Despite the fact that Hank Landry is a prime suspect for Keith, Landry reassures Veronica that she can still be his protégé. Keith continues to question Mindy O’Dell, citing inconsistencies in his testimony. Mindy says that the other man arguing in her room was the Dean. She also says that Hank could have been the murderer, as she was not in the area at the time of the murder. Keith enters Veronica’s criminology class and arrests Hank. Keith questions him as well, and he says that Mindy set him up with the blood on his clothes, noting that he went to a convenience store before driving home. However, Keith puts him in a cell, where he is visited by Tim Foyle, and Hank tells him to find the bug that was placed on his phone. Later, Veronica sees Tim breaking into Mars Investigations, trying to find the bug, and Tim effectively enlists Veronica’s help. They visit the convenience store with no luck for the time being. Wallace (Percy Daggs III) sees Logan (Jason Dohring) and Parker (Julie Gonzalo) having lunch together and tells Veronica, but she doesn’t seem upset. Mindy buys a boat at the local pier. Keith and Veronica receive news that Mindy has left town.
Veronica tutors Weevil in math. Weevil tells her that the word is that Duncan (Teddy Dunn) ran off because she told Duncan that he killed Lilly. Meanwhile, a girl, Mandy, loses her dog, Chester. The next day at school Logan (Jason Dohring) tells Veronica that he has no idea where Duncan went. Mandy talks to Veronica about her dog, and she agrees to help. Wallace (Percy Daggs III) tells Veronica that Weevil broke into the Kane house the previous night and was found in Lilly's (Amanda Seyfried) bedroom. Veronica visits Weevil who says that he broke in to steal back a ring he gave to Lilly. Trina talks to Aaron (Harry Hamlin) before Logan comes in and makes sarcastic comments. A lawyer appears and says that Lynn did not include Aaron and Trina in her will, while she gives Logan $115,000 and other assets. Veronica and Mandy visit the pound, but according to a classmate, Hans, the pound hasn't found the dog. The pound contacts Veronica, who says that Chester had been hit by a car on the highway the previous day. The next day, Veronica notices that the board near the beach is now covered with lost dog notices and deduces that dog notices with expensive rewards got their dogs back, while the others did not. Celeste (Lisa Thornhill) walks into Mars Investigations and she blames Veronica for her family's problems. Veronica tells Celeste that she'll tell her what happened with Duncan (even though she doesn't know) if the Kanes drop the charges against Weevil.

Then, Cliff McCormack (Daran Norris) enters and Veronica asks him for entry into death row to see Abel Koontz (Christian Clemenson). Cliff denies her advances. Later that day, after gym class, Veronica finds that her clothes are missing and that someone stuffed them in the toilet. A cheerleader, Meg Manning (Alona Tal), gives her uniform to Veronica. Meg goes over to her friends, one of whom is Duncan Kane (Teddy Dunn), and they talk about a popular purity test. Later, Veronica and Wallace (Percy Daggs III) are hanging out, and Wallace's mom, Alicia (Erica Gimpel) eventually barges in and berates him privately for being friends with Veronica. Veronica finds a website where she can look up the results of anyone's purity test. There is chaos at school the next day after someone makes the results of the test public. Veronica then tells Meg that she will find the person who made the test public. The next day, Veronica meets Mac (Tina Majorino) when she needs help with a computer problem. They start to investigate who made the results public. Later, Veronica spies Alicia with a man (Joel Bissonnette) at night. Later that day, Veronica meets Meg, who tells her that she is being harassed. It turns out that Meg's sister actually created and published a test specifically for her.
