After alerting the others, Izzy arrives at Tai's house and together, they watch the ensuing battle between WarGreymon, MetalGarurumon and Diaboromon on the internet. WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon eventually DNA Digivolve into Omnimon but Diaboromon is too quick for him, always jumping to somewhere else whenever Omnimon spots him. Remembering how the high volume of e-mails being sent to his computer had slowed down WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon, Izzy devises a plan to slow Diaboromon down in the same way by instead, forwarding all those e-mails to him. His plan works and Omnimon succeeds in defeating Diaboromon.
Upon their return to the Digital World, they are confronted by the Dark Masters: MetalSeadramon, Puppetmon, Machinedramon and Piedmon. WarGreymon and his allies are easily defeated and only escape because of Piximon's sacrifice. A short while later, Izzy discovers that WarGreymon is equipped with "Dramon Destroyers", which are particularly effective against Digimon with "Dramon" in their name. WarGreymon is initially overpowered by MetalSeadramon and almost defeated but Whamon intervenes, sacrificing his life in the process and allowing War Greymon to defeat MetalSeadramon. However, a heated argument between Tai and Matt erupts soon afterwards, causing the DigiDestined to disband temporarily. Whilst separated, Tai's younger sister Kari becomes ill, prompting him to go in search of a cure and causing him to unknowingly walk into Machinedramon's domain. Although Koromon is initially too weak to fight, he is empowered by Kari's "Crest of Light", allowing him to Digivolve to War Greymon and defeat Machinedramon. Shortly afterwards, the DigiDestined reunite to confront Piedmon, the last of the Dark Masters but WarGreymon and most of his allies are turned into key chains. They are eventually saved by MagnaAngemon and defeat Piedmon with the help of their allies.
After reuniting with his allies and reassembling their group, Izzy and the others follow Myotismon back to the real world after learning of his scheme to find and kill the eighth DigiDestined child. After Myotismon's first defeat at the hands of Angewomon, Izzy's parents decide to tell him that he was adopted. Izzy reveals that he had heard them talking about it one night and that he had tried to forget about what he had heard by focusing on computers. Izzy's parents assure him that they love him and Izzy accepts them as his real parents. During this time, Myotismon returns as VenomMyotismon but WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon manage to defeat him with the help of the other DigiDestined Digimon. After his defeat, the DigiDestined are forced to return to the Digital World to do battle against The Dark Masters. When BlackWarGreymon is motivated to destroy them, Arukenimon decided to hold off the DigiDestined to keep them from interfering. About six months after the DigiDestined departed from the Digital World, Izzy discovers a Digi-Egg on the internet that has been infected by a virus. He rushes over to Tai's apartment to inform him about the newly hatched Digimon, Kuramon. Tai and Izzy monitor it and are astonished as Kuramon consumes large amounts of computer data to rapidly digivolve to Keramon. Gennai appears in a transmission from the Digital World, warning them about the dangers of his growth. He dispatches Agumon and Tentomon to stop the Digimon. Keramon digivolves into Infermon and easily defeats the Champion and Ultimate forms of Tentomon and Agumon. Izzy realizes that Keramon completely skipped over his Champion form and digivolved straight to his Ultimate level. Tai tries to alert the rest of the DigiDestined, but only succeeds in enlisting the help of Matt, T.K., Gabumon and Patamon. Agumon and Gabumon Warp Digivolve to WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon, prompting Infermon to Digivolve into Diaboromon. A massive amount of emails are sent to Tai and Izzy from people around the world who are watching the battle from their computers. This causes WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon to slow down and they are severely injured in the fight. Diaboromon begins to duplicate himself at an exponential rate and infects computers at the Pentagon, launching two nuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles: one headed for Colorado, the other for Tai and Izzy's neighborhood in Odaiba, Tokyo. Refusing to lose hope, Tai and Matt's bond with their Digimon allow them to become digital and enter the internet to comfort WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon. Tai and Matt remind them about all the people around the world watching them and sending emails with encouraging words. WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon are revived by the collective power of the millions of children around the world and DNA Digivolve to Omnimon. Omnimon easily defeats all of the Diaboromon copies, leaving only the original. With one minute left until the missile impact, Diaboromon is still too fast for them to hit. With seconds left on the clock, Izzy redirects the incoming emails to Diaboromon to slow him down. Omnimon destroys Diaboromon by stabbing him through the head just in time and the nukes are disabled just before detonation. However, the same virus that created Diaboromon tracks down Willis and corrupts Kokomon.
BlackWarGreymon emerges in Tokyo to kill Oikawa for disrupting the balance of both Earth and the Digital World. Agumon receives a power boost from Azulongmon, allowing him to digivolve to WarGreymon, who then engaged his twin in battle but is convinced to depart. BlackWarGreymon returns again as Chikara Hida, Cody's grandfather, tries to talk Oikawa out of his plan, but he takes a mortal blow when Myotismon momentarily takes over Oikawa's body. Realizing the truth, BlackWarGreymon uses the last of his strength to seal the Highton View Terrace Gate to the Digital World in attempt to prevent Myotismon from re-entering the Digital World.
The first of the Dark Masters, MetalSeadramon rules over the Net Ocean, appearing as a large sea serpent covered in golden armour. Very arrogant and egotistical, MetalSeadramon is the first to engage the DigiDestined, using his army of Divermon to search the entire ocean for them. He does not kill his minions for entertainment like the other Dark Masters, but will execute them if they fail him, as he does with the clam-obsessed Scorpiomon. MetalSeadramon mortally wounds Whamon, prompting WarGreymon to drill through his body, killing him instantly. In "Digimon Adventure Tri", a reboot version of MetalSeadramon attacks the DigiDestined before he is destroyed by Tai, Matt, and Kari's Digimon.
After Gatomon Digivolves into Angewomon, WereGarurumon and the other DigiDestined digimon lend their powers to her, allowing her to defeat Myotismon with her "Celestial Arrow" attack. However, Myotismon returns soon afterwards as VenomMyotismon. During this time, Gennai informs the DigiDestined of a prophecy which leads to Gabumon and Agumon warp digivolving into their mega forms, Metal Garurumon and WarGreymon after Matt and Tai are shot with arrows of Hope and Light from Angemon and Angewomon respectively. Together with help from the remaining DigiDestined, they are able to defeat VenomMyotismon but are forced to return to the Digital World straight afterwards to battle against The Dark Masters.
The second story occurs a few months after the battle against Apocalymon. It shows many of the DigiDestined, but primarily focuses on Tai, Matt, Izzy, and TK, as they end up saving the day when a computer virus Digimon raises havoc all over the world through the Internet. The kids must stop the evil Digimon quickly before he provokes the launching of a nuclear ICBM aimed at Japan (where the kids live). Tai and Matt end up getting so worried about their Digimon (in the form of WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon) badly losing to the evil Digimon Diaboromon that they actually phase into the Internet and miraculously give them the power to destroy him in time. Both Digimon merge, evolving into the powerful Omnimon. However, Diaboromon is still too fast, until Izzy comes up with the idea to redirect e-mails that they are receiving from children watching the battle all over the world via the internet to slow Diaboromon down, allowing Omnimon to finish him off just before the missiles hit. In the end, the deactivated ICBM lands harmlessly in Tokyo Bay. Our War Game! appears to be inspired by the 1983 film, WarGames. This movie is considered canon due to Izzy's analysis of ExVeemon and Stingmon's DNA Digivolution in Adventure 02, because Izzy compares it to WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon's own DNA Digivolution and how 02 character Yolei Inoue became a Digidestined. Ryo, who appears briefly in 02 and has an expanded role in Tamers, also uses his computer to help the DigiDestined.
The second story occurs a few months after the battle against Apocalymon. It shows many of the DigiDestined, but primarily focuses on Tai, Matt, Izzy, and T.K., as they end up saving the day when Diaboromon, a computer virus Digimon, raises havoc all over the world through the Internet, initially through consuming data, and then begins searching the American networks for a Digidestined called Willis. The evil Digimon initially defeats Agumon and Tentomon by Digivolving to his higher levels rapidly, but a second confrontation sees Diaboromon pummeled by Wargreymon and MetalGarurumon. However Tai's internet connection becomes flooded with emails from various children across the world, causing Wargreymon to freeze at a critical moment, allowing Diaboromon to defeat both Digimon and escape. Diaboromon then begins to copy himself rapidly, and infiltrates the American military to fire two nuclear ICBMs, one aimed at Willis in Colorado, and the second at the neighborhood of the Japanese Digidestined. Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon chase the copies of Diaboromon to another part of the internet, hoping to locate and destroy the original, as the copies will perish and the nuclear strike will stop. However, the two Digimon are hopelessly outnumbered and are almost killed by the repeated attacks of the many copies. Tai and Matt, desperate to help their partners, actually phase into the Internet and miraculously revive them. The hope of the many emails of the children watching the battle causes both Digimon to merge, evolving into Omnimon, one of the most powerful entities of the Digital World. Omnimon quickly obliterates the copies, but the original proves too fast to hit, until Izzy comes up with the idea to redirect the children's e-mails to slow Diaboromon down to a crawl, allowing Omnimon to finish him off seconds before the missiles hit. As the crisis ends, the ICBM aimed at Japan deactivates and lands harmlessly in Tokyo Bay. "Our War Game!" appears to be inspired by the 1983 film, "WarGames" and inspiring its own director Mamoru Hosoda to make "Summer Wars".
Machinedramon is a large hulking robotic dragon armed with two large cannons. He has an emotionless, cold, calculating mind and speaks with a whispery voice. He often resorts to military strategies in combat, including scorched earth strategies. He rules over Spiral Mountain's cityscape, and commands a vast army of machine Digimon. Machinedramon targets the DigiDestined as they explore the city, leading them to fall into the city's lower levels. Machinedramon later confronts them, destroying an army of Numemon in the process, much to Kari's horror, who causes Agumon to digivolve into WarGreymon to chop Machinedramon into three pieces, seemingly destroying him, although the Wanderswan games reveal that despite being cut into pieces, Machinedramon manages to survive, though barely, and DNA digivolves with a dying Kimeramon to form Millenniummon. In "Digimon Adventure Tri", a reboot version of Machinedramon attacks the DigiDestined before he is destroyed by Phoenixmon, HerculesKabuterimon, and Seraphimon.
Fifteen powerful warriors attempted to stop the Digital World from being split into pieces. Upon their defeat, their spirits were imprisoned in tiny memory cards, called DigiCards or DigiMemories, which could be harnessed by a Fusion Loader and used to summon the warrior for one attack. While the others were scattered across the Digital World's Zones, the DigiCards holding Examon and WarGreymon were trapped in the space between dimensions, while Omnimon ended up on Earth, where he played a role in Mikey gaining his Fusion Loader. After Mikey reclaims the Code Crown from DarknessBagramon, the Legendary Digimon within the DigiCards are all revived and help in the final battle against DarknessBagramon. The DigiCards are made up of them.
Along the way, more humans are brought to the Digital World by Daemon, including Neo Saiba, Rei Saiba, Sigma, Mari Goutokuji, and Hideto Fujimoto. Neo is chosen to raise the Digimon that will hatch from the Super Ultimate egg Daemon is raising. Rei Saiba, Neo's sister, has a Digimental that will allow the Daemon's experimental Digimon to evolve to a level beyond Ultimate. The others, called the Alias III, are to help Neo and Daemon with their Digimon. Hideto's Partner is an Omnimon named Omega, formed by the Jogress of Warg and Melga, a WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon respectively. Mari's Partner is a Rosemon named Rose and Sigma's is a Piedmon named Pie respectively. They are all villains that eventually reform except Rei, who has no Digimon Partner or evil intentions.
After reuniting with their allies, they return to the real world to stop Myotismon from finding and killing the eighth DigiDestined child. After attempting to rescue the citizens who have been trapped by Myotismon, MetalGreymon and Tai reunite with their allies to confront the evil Digimon himself. After Gatomon Digivolves into Angewomon, Metal Greymon and the other DigiDestined Digimon lend their powers to her, allowing her to defeat Myotismon with her "Celestial Arrow" attack. However, Myotismon returns soon afterwards as VenomMyotismon. During this time, Gennai informs the DigiDestined of a prophecy which leads to Agumon and Gabumon Warp Digivolving into their Mega forms, WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon after Tai and Matt are shot with arrows of Hope and Light from Angemon and Angewomon respectively. Together with help from the remaining DigiDestined, they are able to defeat VenomMyotismon but are forced to return to the Digital World straight afterwards to do battle against The Dark Masters.
is an Insect Digimon who is the Zone Battalio Commander of the Bagra Army within the Jungle Zone and a servant of Tactimon. He and Tactimon attacked Mikey and Shoutmon with an army of Blue MegaKabuterimon. He was defeated by MailBirdramon near the ruins, but survived the battle. Kongoumon later led an army of GranKuwagamon to go after the Fusion Fighters. He and his GranKuwagamon army were easily destroyed by Beelzemon and the Meteor Missiles. Kongoumon was later revealed by WarGreymon and Examon's DigiCards to have been a Kabuterimon before being transformed into Kongoumon and joining the Bagra Army. He was revived during the final battle against DarknessBagramon, becoming part of Shoutmon X7 Superior Mode.
When the DigiDestined entered his domain, Puppetmon separated them before abducting T.K. in order to play a deadly game of hide and seek with him. T.K. manages to outwit Puppetmon and then disable his means to control the forest before rejoining his friends. Furious at being tricked through his need to prove he is not friendless, Puppetmon arranges Cherrymon to turn Matt against the other DigiDestined while having Garbagemon attack them. Though the plan initially works, Puppetmon angrily executes Cherrymon when he implies that the DigiDestined possess something he does not. Puppetmon then watches as WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon face off, only to be blown away as a spirit intervenes to inform the children of how they were chosen to fight the Dark Masters.
Piedmon observes the actions of the other Dark Masters and does not engage the DigiDestined in combat until they arrive in his domain and defeated his lieutenant LadyDevimon. When all of the DigiDestined save Mimi reunite, Piedmon uses a number of magical cloths to turn them into keyrings. Only T.K., Kari, and Patamon were left with the two children nearly killed by Piedmon before they were saved by the newly digivolved MagnaAngemon who then restores their friends to normal. Though Piedmon responds with his army of Vilemon, his forces are defeated by the army of friends Mimi amassed to help the DigiDestined out. In the end, Piedmon is blasted by WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon into MagnaAngemon's Gate of Destiny, trapping the evil Digimon and ending the Dark Masters' reign.
T.K. begins to show greater responsibility in the fight against Machinedramon, protecting Kari on Tai's instruction even after they are thrown into the sewers. He assists in the liberation of the Numemon from Warumonzaemon, and witnesses their sacrifice that gives Kari the mysterious energy to have WarGreymon destroy Machinedramon. In the final battle against Piedmon, T.K. is sent with Sora to find Matt and the others, although it is Sora who needs rescuing from her pit, with the help of Joe and Matt. When they return to the peak of Spiral Mountain, T.K. is left as Kari's protector with Patamon when Piedmon turns the children into key-chains. As Piedmon throws them to their deaths, T.K's refusal to give up hope results in Angemon digivolving to MagnaAngemon who rescues the other children and destroys Piedmon. T.K. joins the final battle against Apocalymon, and vows to meet Patamon again when he is forced to return home.
Dorumon digivolves into his Champion-level Dorugamon, but Gallantmon arrives, revealing to Omnimon that Project Ark’s second phase involves wiping out all Digimon, something which he refuses to participate in. Omnimon and Gallantmon duel, but Gallantmon allows himself to be killed so he can discern the truth, leaving Omnimon confused. Magnamon capture Dorugamon on Yggdrasil’s command, revealing Dorumon is an experiment. Data is extracted from Dorugamon, used to create an army of DexDoruGreymon while Dorugamon is dumped in a junkyard where he is found by resistance members Mummymon and Wizardmon. Yggdrasil’s horde attacks the group’s base, but WarGreymon X and a revived MetalGarurumon X help protect it. Dorugamon awakens, digivolving into DoruGreymon, resembling the attacking horde. Gallantmon returns as an X-Digimon, opening a portal for DoruGreymon to confront Yggdrasil.
